The facility ensures that all wastewater used in the operation of the plant is treated to a high environmental standard, suitable for sustaining marine and plant life, before discharging from the bottling plant.
The visit also marks the start of celebrations of the 15th anniversary of Coca-Cola operations in Armenia.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the minister of environment, Aram Harutyunyan, the head of the state water committee and the first deputy minister of economy.
The prime minister and other guests were greeted by Coca-Cola Hellenic Armenia general manager Gagik Danielyan, who gave a plant tour and a presentation about the company’s operations and the contributions it makes to the sustainability of the country and its people.
The prime minister was introduced to a number of the company’s employees, who explained the processes involved in the production of the company’s beverages, including Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite and BonAqua. He was also given an insight into the development and progress of the business since it was established in 1995.
In response to a media enquiry, the prime minister said, “I am here today to see the best international business and environmental practices of Coca-Cola, which we can then replicate across the country”.
“We’re honoured to have the opportunity to present our operations to the prime minister,” said Gagik Danielyan, “and to explain our business philosophy, which includes a strong commitment to fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities.
“This year, we will celebrate the 15th anniversary of Coca-Cola operations in Armenia. During this time, we’ve sold more than 300m litres of beverages, and in the past five years have made investments of more than $20m. Through its operations, Coca-Cola Hellenic Armenia supports the development of other local businesses, including service suppliers, distributors and retailers by creating additional jobs.
“In addition to our contribution to the economy, we contribute to the protection of environment and strengthening of local communities.”
