Alliant develops compostable pods for its Coffee Bean brand

Alliant Coffee Solutions has developed new compostable coffee pods for its Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf range of soft coffee pods.

Made from a soft biodegradable film, the pods can be thrown directly into a compost bin where there they will decompose naturally in a number of months.

According to Alliant, some biodegradable materials take several years to completely degrade, but the compostable material present in the new soft pods will naturally break down into a nutrient-rich mixture within one to four months.

The soft pod also helps to keep each pod free from oxygen degradation, preserving the quality of the coffee inside.
