Barry Callebaut has agreed a long-term supply agreement with Burton’s Biscuit Company, the UK’s second largest biscuit manufacturer.
Burton’s owns major biscuit brands such as Maryland Cookies, Jammie Dodger’s and Wagon Wheels, and the agreement will see Barry Callebaut supply over 12,000 metric tonnes of chocolate and compound to Burton’s every year.
Barry Callebaut will also acquire the chocolate manufacturing facilities at Burton’s chocolate factory in Moreton, UK as a result of the agreement, though financial details of this transaction have not been disclosed.
Barry Callebaut says that it will continue to produce chocolate at the Moreton site, and that all current employees at the site will transfer from Burton’s to Barry Callebaut once the transaction has been completed.
Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of the Barry Callebaut Group said: “We are delighted to strengthen the collaboration with our longstanding customer Burton’s and to further support a great British brand.
“This transaction is an excellent example of the power of long-term partnerships and outsourcing.
“It is also a clear sign of our commitment to support the growth of our business in the UK market.”
Nick Field, CEO of Burton’s Food Ltd added: “I am pleased to announce the signing of a long-term supply agreement with Barry Callebaut, the world’s leading chocolate manufacturer.
“Barry Callebaut shares our passion and motivation for baking the best quality products for our customers and consumers.
