Campbell Soup Company has released a new line of soups as it targets consumers looking for a healthy snack between meals.
Called Well Yes!, the on-the-go range is available in five flavours: tomato and sweet basil, butternut squash and sweet potato, roasted red pepper and tomato, harvest carrot and ginger, and sweet corn and roasted potato.
Mintel figures reveal that 80% of consumers believe that soup is an easy way to get more vegetables between meals, but a lack of convenience limits usage.
Campbell’s said the Well Yes! soups provide 20% or more of consumers’ daily vegetable servings and that they can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature “for the ultimate in convenience”.
The creamy soups are said to be a good source of fibre, meet vegetarian dietary needs, are non-GMO and contain no artificial flavours or colours.
“With convenience-focused daytime snacking on the rise and a desire to find more nutritious options, consumers are hungry for quick and easy solutions that deliver on taste,” said Diego Palmieri, chief marketing officer of Campbell meals and beverages.
“Well Yes! Sipping Soups were crafted to provide delicious real food ingredients with drinkable vegetable nutrition, in a convenient and affordable on-the-go package.”
Campbell executive chef Graham Zanow added: “The development of Well Yes! sipping soups began with the selection of consumers’ favourite vegetables.
“Roasted pepper is topped with smoked paprika. Sweet corn gets a careful addition of poblano pepper and toasted cumin, resulting in an authentic southwest flavour. A little butternut squash purée was added for sweetness to the tomato.
“And I am personally passionate about the carrot ginger, as the recipe is just like the one I served at my own cafe. A finish of coconut and ginger makes the carrot taste more like itself but also creates a soothing, warm sensation.”
Well Yes! sipping soups are available at a suggested retail price of $1.99 per unit in the US.
