At BrauBeviale 2018, Alex Clere spoke with Ivan Soltero, global strategic marketing director for Rexnord, about new manufacturing solutions coming to the fore from the company.
Solutions include the Rexnord Magnetflex Curve System, designed to keep bottles of varying materials in place on the production line.
Soltero explained, “Our engineers assign magnets which go at the top and bottom of the [conveyor] chain. We all know that whenever we try to move glass containers, cans, and PET bottles, sometimes its difficult to keep them in place. Magnetflex acknowledges that problem and provides a solution for it.”
As output demands from processing facilities increase, wear and tear can occur on manufacturers’ machinery. In the past, this has been difficult to fix and replace, but Rexnord contests that its Magnetflex Curve System can be a direct solution for this, as Soltero went on to detail.
“It’s always a challenge to keep bottles in place, especially at fast speeds. And with either steel chains, or plastic chains with steel pins, the wear and tear is difficult to control.
“The solution that we have created […] reduces wear and tear by holding the chain in place, meaning that any wear and tear is created by the bottles on top.”
Solutions have also been provided for dynamic options for Rexnord’s customers.
Soltero detailed how ART Dynamic Chain can add a dynamic edge to manufacturing: “Activator Roller Technology, otherwise known as ART Dynamic Chain, can create multiple behaviours within one single conveyor. So what this means is you can create zero backlight pressure, acceleration, deceleration, rotation clockwise and counter-clockwise, so it really becomes a dynamic smart chain.”
Rexnord has also recognised how PET is evolving within the packaging industry. Soltero explained how Dry PT can smooth out the processing stages in manufacturing PET.
“Dry PT was created for PET bottles that require fast speed processing. This solution eliminates the need for lubrication, which sometimes can be hard for cleaning sticky situations. The colour itself helps people at the plants to identify when the line is dirty.”
