Ardagh has created a new 187ml single-serve glass wine bottle, as it responds to increased consumer demand for smaller bottle sizes.
The firm, through its Ardagh Group glass – North America division, collaborated with business development company GPS Global Brands to create the product.
Ardagh said single-serve wine bottles represent “a significant” new category in the wine market, allowing wineries to attract consumers by letting them sample products without committing to a multi-serve format.
GPS Global Brands provides single-serve options for the wine industry and categories such as ready-to-drink cocktails.
Matt Wood, CEO, and the GPS team, worked closely with Ardagh to design and develop its 187ml wine bottle used for multiple brands to bottle single servings, available in 24-pack cases.
“Luxury single-serve gives premium brands a new opportunity to connect with customers in the vital by-the-glass space, while providing a range of new sales channels,” said Wood.
Enhancing the appeal of the bottle’s convenient format design is its status as a 100% infinitely recyclable package, Ardagh said. The bottles can go from the recycling bin to the store shelf in as little as 30 days.
Jeff Oberti, vice president of sales for Ardagh Direct, said: “Ardagh Group enjoyed collaborating with GPS Global Brands to create this new 187ml single-serve wine bottle, incorporating GPS’s vision and Ardagh’s new product development team’s design and manufacturing expertise to create something unique to the industry.
“This bottle was designed to run efficiently on both manufacturing and filling lines, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing to the eye.”
