Crediton Dairy will invest £12 million in its flavoured and functional milk processing facility in Devon, UK, as it targets growth in the value-added milk segment.
The investment will see the creation of a second production hall, containing two high-speed fillers, taking the number of filling lines at Crediton Dairy up to seven.
In addition to increasing processing capacity, the expansion will provide Crediton with greater flexibility to produce a wider range of flavoured and functional milks using new production techniques and packaging formats.
Having invested £14 million since 2013, Crediton said it has made “significant progress” in building its capacity to produce flavoured and functional milk beverages.
Its product portfolio includes Arctic iced coffee, Moo flavoured milks and Flora Pro Activ functional milk.
Crediton Dairy managing director Tim Smiddy.
Commenting on the announcement, Tim Smiddy, Crediton Dairy managing director, said: “This latest investment at the dairy is fully in line with our strategy of becoming a leader in the fast-growing flavoured and functional milk drinks segments of the market.
“The new production hall will increase our processing capacity, capability and flexibility and will allow us to develop further an exciting range of innovative branded and own-label products that meet growing consumer demand.”
Work on building the new production hall will commence in March and it is expected that the new facility will be completed by autumn 2019.
Located in the Devon town of the same name, Crediton was owned by Arla Foods until 2012. The company’s products can be bought in over 13,500 food retail stores across the UK and in overseas markets.
