US-based tortilla manufacturer Harbar has added to its Maria and Ricardo’s range with two new tortillas aimed at consumers searching for foods with higher protein and fibre.
Maria and Ricardo’s quinoa flour certified gluten-free tortilla is made with a blend of quinoa flour, tapioca and potato starch, combined with avocado oil. It is free from dairy, wheat, soy and egg. Each pack of six tortillas retails for approximately $4.29.
Meanwhile, whole wheat plus tortilla is made with avocado oil and is a keto-friendly variant with 6g of fibre, 3g of protein and 45 calories. There are eight tortillas per package, retailing for around $3.29.
“Our new quinoa flour and whole wheat plus tortillas are a welcomed addition to our tortilla line and consumers will be delighted with their amazing taste and texture,” said Ezequiel Montemayor, CEO of Maria and Ricardo’s Tortillas.
The whole wheat plus tortillas are sold in packs of eight, retailing for $3.29.
“We’ve combined the finest ingredients to create two new recipes that are delicious and offer healthier options for your favourite meal.”
Both tortillas can be found at Whole Foods Market locations across the US as well as on Amazon.
Maria and Ricardo’s tortillas are inspired by the brand’s Mexican roots and are baked with non-GMO ingredients. More than 20 tortillas are available in its portfolio.
The brand’s parent company is Massachusetts-based Harbar, which also owns the Mayan Farm and Wrappy Tortillas brands.
