Premium cereal brand Lizi’s, which is owned by South African food and beverage manufacturer Pioneer Foods, has launched a digestive health variant to its existing repertoire of low sugar granolas.
Lizi’s Digestive Health Granola supports good bacteria and helps maintain healthy digestion, and is expected to enhance the brand’s health offering. According to the brand, the launch will mark Lizi’s as the first granola brand in the UK to offer a granola with added cultures to benefit gut health.
The granola contains one billion cultures and over 4g of fibre per 50g serving, tapping into current consumer demand for products that aid digestive health.
The new variant contains natural ingredients such as toasted oats, almonds, walnuts, coconut, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and pecans combined with stomach-friendly bacteria (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30 6086), and uses treacle to bind the oats instead of honey to make the product vegan-friendly.
Alice Bream, brand manager at Lizi’s Granola, commented: “Gut health affects almost every aspect of overall health from how well people sleep and how often they catch a cold, to mental wellbeing and happiness. It’s difficult to know if we’re eating enough of the right foods to support our digestive health. With Lizi’s Digestive Health Granola we are giving consumers an opportunity to aid their digestion in a tasty way.”
Lizi’s Digestive Health Granola has an RRP £3.70 for 350g.
Pioneer Food Group added Lizi’s to its stable of well-known breakfast cereals in 2017. Pioneer Foods is the market leading breakfast cereal manufacturer in South Africa, counting household brands such as Weet-Bix, ProNutro, and Bokomo corn flakes amongst its product portfolio.
