UK brand Mutiny has launched to market a range of handmade mustards infused with alcohol this September.
Each of Mutiny’s mustard recipes are infused with real alcohol and variable flavour combinations, containing no artificial colours or preservatives. Made with a honey base, the line up is gluten free while all jars bar one – the Bloody Mary mustard – are suitable for vegetarians.
The newly established company offers eight different flavours including: Gin and Lime, Whisky and Orange and Vodka and Horseradish. Mutiny believes its combinations “will add a kick to any dish it accompanies”.
Developed by entrepreneur and ex-chef David Hicks, the mustards were first created in his home, a Dutch barge docked in Hammersmith, West London. The historical wartime background of his boat is the influential meaning behind the new brand name.
Production now takes place in a small factory in Cumbria where each mustard is handmade and preserved in jars which are made from up to 40% recycled glass.
Founder David Hicks said: “I am really excited to launch Mutiny to the UK – I’ve been working on the range for some time and I believe that the unique collection of mustards we have created offers something completely different to anything else on the market right now.
“Each mustard has been crafted to ensure that every jar tastes exquisite, with an alcoholic punch for a premium flavour – however it’s worth noting that you’d need to eat rather a lot in order to feel any usual alcoholic effects.”
Mutiny’s range of mustards are available across the UK, priced at £7.99 per jar and are suitable for adults only.
