Soylent has expanded its ready-to-drink meal replacements portfolio with a new mint chocolate flavour.
Made using a soy-based protein, the product is gluten and lactose-free, so suitable for vegans.
The new flavour combines milk chocolate with a hint of mint and contains 36 essential nutrients, omega-3 and 20g of plant protein per 414ml bottle.
While the LA-based company reported that they require packaging improvements to make it more environmentally friendly, it claimed that soy protein is the most energy efficient protein to produce as it requires less water and CO2.
Andrew Thomas, Soylent’s vice-president of brand marketing said: “Our new mint chocolate drink requested by our fans was engineered by Soylent’s hard-working team, with the complex tastes of humanity in mind.”
Alongside its new flavour launch, Soylent has released its Life Cycle Analysis, revealing its environmental footprint in manufacturing its products.
“It’s a crucial time in our existence, with an ever-increasing population and a need for more bioavailable, sustainable sources of nutrition,” said Julie Daoust, vice-president of product development and innovation.
Daoust adds: “Many companies talk about their sustainability impact, but very few actually make the investment to get the independent data to prove or disprove their assumptions. We’ve continued to focus on creating products that are delicious, nutrient dense and good for the future of our planet. In more ways than one, Soylent really is green.”
Suitable as on-the-go nutrition, Soylent’s latest product launch expands its current range of ready-to-drink bottles that already offers eight flavours including original, cacoa, café mocha and vanilla.
Previously in April this year, Soylent debuted a range of bars called Soylent Squared, taking its meal replacement drinks and powders into a new snack format.
Soylent’s new mint chocolate flavour is available now to purchase through its website, on Amazon in October and from select stories in New York in November.
