UK-based Green Times Brewing has released a low-alcohol beer featuring 10mg of CBD per can.
Containing a broad-spectrum, water-soluble CBD formula, the 0.5% ABV pale ale is packaged in 330ml cans to allow accessibility to the festivals and events market.
According to Manchester-based Green Times, the brew “offers the profile of an expertly brewed craft beer but without any negative side effects”.
The gluten-free, vegan and organic beverage does not contain the psychoactive compounds associated with THC.
The launch follows Green Times’ introduction of High Flyer CBD Session IPA and Green Heathen, a 7.2% IPA created with Leeds-based Northern Monk.
“We are very pleased to launch our new low-ABV beer in time for Christmas, along with our new and improved 4.3% Session IPA in cans – and based on sales of High Flyer and Green Heathen it is set to be a sell-out,” said Green Times Brewing managing director, Thierry Florrit.
“As research into CBD continues, there is more science to suggest the value of mixing CBD with alcohol.”
He added: “CBD and cannabis also have well-researched anti-inflammatory effects, and as the CBD formulation is water-soluble it will be processed by the body much more effectively.”
Green Times Brewing business development director Carl Boon said: “We have focused on using progressive brewing techniques to produce a low-ABV beer that still has the authentic taste and profile of a real craft beer.”
