Potato processor Lamb Weston has launched Waffled Hash Browns as it aims to offer a twist on a classic comfort item.
Described as a unique take on Belgian-style waffles, the savoury products are available to the foodservice sector, made with Idaho shredded potatoes and can be baked or fried.
Lamb Weston said the waffles are suitable as a creative breakfast item, a handheld snack, a sandwich carrier or in an appetiser application.
“Our goal was to give our operator partners a new way to serve a crispy potato product and our new savoury Waffled Hash Browns hits the mark,” said Kim Cupelli, Lamb Weston vice president of marketing.
“The Waffled Hash Browns were designed to cook up crispy in the oven, making this a quick and easy option for coffee, sandwich, bakery and convenience stores.”
Last year, Lamb Weston introduced the Crispy on Delivery solution for foodservice operators to ensure that chips arrive hot and crispy via home delivery.
Crispy on Delivery chips are said to maintain heat and crispiness for 30 minutes, with the fries lightly battered to withstand the challenges of delivery.
Last month, Lamb Weston created a joint venture in Argentina with holding company Sociedad Comercial del Plata to serve the South American market.
