Puratos UK expands vegan portfolio with two new mixes

Bakery ingredients company Puratos UK is extending its vegan range with the release of a Vegan Granola Bake Mix and Satin Vegan Complete Plain Cake Mix.

The launches bring the number of suitable-for-vegan products in the Puratos UK range to more than 250, as the business caters for increasing demand from consumers following plant-based diets.

Containing wholegrains, oats and sunflower seeds, the Granola Bake Mix is suitable as a base for a variety of snacks. Recipe ideas include: passion fruit and granola bake, granola swirl, granola fruit and nut shard, granola fruit slice, and cranberry granola bites.

The Satin Vegan Plain Cake Mix follows the development of Puratos UK’s Satin Vegan Plain and Chocolate mixes in 2018.

The new mix requires the addition of just oil and water, rather than soya milk, water, vegetable oil and glycerine, as the 2018 launch did. Satin Vegan Plain Cake Mix is suitable for a range of baked goods, including: celebration cakes, muffins and cupcakes.

The Granola Bake Mix contains wholegrains, oats and sunflower seeds.

“Sales of our vegan products are growing as more of our customers offer vegan patisserie and bakery products to meet increasing consumer demand,” said Puratos UK digital and communications manager, Lydia Baines.

“Our Taste Tomorrow consumer study confirmed that veganism is going to continue its upward trend, with 20% of people buying vegan or vegetarian food each week.”

In September, Puratos UK released two complementary cake mix and filling combinations that are inspired by trends for tradition and nostalgia.
