UK ‘better-for-you’ snack brand, Proper, has expanded its range of Properchips with the addition of a new Salt & Vinegar flavour.
The brand’s range of lentil chips was launched last year, coinciding with a company rebrand from Propercorn to Proper, to accommodate its first foray outside of the popcorn category.
Coming in at under 100kcal per serving, the latest addition to Proper’s range is said to provide consumers with a healthier alternative to the ‘much-loved crisp classic’.
The all-vegan recipe, featuring lighter, lentil chips seasoned with sea salt and apple cider vinegar, is free from citric acid and artificial flavourings, and reportedly contains 30% less fat than leading crisp brands.
Commenting on the launch, co-founder Cassandra Stavrou said: “Last year saw the launch of Properchips – a seriously exciting move for Proper, that has taken us from the leading premium popcorn-maker to the biggest new brand in better-for-you.
“More and more people are demanding healthier, snacking options throughout the day, but taste remains the number one priority. Our latest flavour was created in direct response to this, made using a crispy, lentil base and nothing but natural seasonings.
“After months of tasting and tweaking, we’re proud to have recreated one of the nation’s most popular flavour profiles, providing shoppers with a healthier alternative to a classic flavour they know and love.”
Salt & Vinegar Properchips are available, for an RRP of £1.99 per 85g sharing bag, from Tesco – with single-serve bags set to launch in June.
