Maple Leaf Foods subsidiary Greenleaf Food has expanded its Field Roast portfolio with the introduction of Plant-based Nuggets across the US.
Made from whole food ingredients including roasted garlic, wheat and pea protein, the plant-based nuggets contain 14g of protein per serving and no GMOs, soy or artificial ingredients.
According to Field Roast, the breaded nuggets offer a taste and texture comparable to traditional chicken nuggets.
The bite-size nuggets will join the brand’s frozen portfolio of plant-based appetisers that includes Fruffalo Wings and Miniature Corn Dogs. Field Roast is also known for its refrigerated plant-based meats and cheeses and earlier this year launched plant-based breakfast sausage patties.
“Remember the joy that a chicken nugget could bring you as a kid?” said Dan Curtin, president of Greenleaf Foods.
“We’re bringing that back with an absolutely delicious plant-based nugget that’s easy to prepare, flavourful on its own, yet still stands up to dips and sauces. And they’re not just for kids—adults are going to crave these, too.”
Field Roast Plant-Based Nuggets are available to purchase in the frozen aisle at participating Albertson’s, Sobey’s and Price Chopper locations with further retail expansion expected this summer. The product will also be launching in foodservice locations.
