Gluten-free baked goods producer Dr. Schär USA has broken ground on a 42,000-square-foot expansion of its manufacturing plant in Logan Township, New Jersey, as it aims to meet increased demand for its gluten-free bread.
Dr. Schär USA’s Logan Township location focuses on the production of sliced bread and rolls for the North American market.
The company’s portfolio includes a range of gluten-free products, including bread, cookies, sweets, crackers, puff pastry dough and croissants for consumers who are celiac, gluten-sensitive or have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
“As we have expanded the US business over the past nine years, we have surpassed the manufacturing capabilities of our current manufacturing facility,” said Dr. Schär USA’s marketing director, Margot Gunther. “This plant expansion will be critical for continuing to grow our operations in the US and offer better quality and service to our consumers.”
The expansion is expected to be completed by 2022.
