The company will work alongside the UK Government to find new members of staff who have been out of work for six months.
14 new supermarkets will be opened and existing venues expanded, Asda said, while the company’s internet division will employ another 2,000 people.
“We will also be helping 3,000 long-term unemployed get back into work by specifically targeting them for existing vacancies in our business,” said Chief Executive, Andy Bond. “Our track record of recruiting and retaining people is second to none, which is why we have the lowest turnover and most motivated workforce in British retail.”
