The move follows the launch of zero-calorie SoBe Lifewater from PepsiCo with stevia at the end of last year following clearance from the Food and Drug Administration allowing companies to produce drinks with stevia-based natural sweeteners.
Skinny Nutritional president and CEO, Ron Wilson, said: “We’ve been working on launching new Skinny beverages that contain an all-natural sweetener with zero calories. Many consumers are looking for a great-tasting, zero-calorie beverage that’s 100% natural. We’re always researching new trends in the functional beverage segment. In addition to the latest superfruits, health and wellness ingredients and natural colours, we see stevia-derived sweeteners as a breakthrough in the sweetener category.”
Skinny Nutritional has been busy building distribution for Skinny Water in large swathes of the US since launching the product in May 2008.
The Skinny Water line-up features five flavours, including acai grape blueberry (Hi-Energy), raspberry pomegranate (Crave Control), goji fruit punch (Shape), passion fruit lemonade (Total-V) and peach mango mandarin (XXX-Detox).
Every bottle of Skinny Water has clinically proven ingredients to boost metabolism and control appetite. All Skinny Waters have three key ingredients: Super CitriMax, ChromeMate and EGCG.
