US-based cracker producer 34 Degrees has introduced gluten-free crisps created using steamed chickpea flour.
Called Original Gluten Free Crisps, the plant-based snacks have gone on sale ahead of the holiday season in the US.
Made with six ingredients, the crisps are described as a “light and crunchy, allergy-friendly option”.
“For years we’ve received requests for a gluten-free version of our crisps from consumers,” said Craig Lieberman, founder and president of 34 Degrees.
“We knew when we launched into gluten free, it would have to taste amazing first and foremost but couldn’t lose the undeniably light and crunchy texture that people love 34 Degrees for.
“We took great care in selecting the best ingredients and taste-tested hundreds of recipes to get the flavour and texture just right. The final product is something we’re incredibly proud of.
“This holiday season, we’re looking forward to being a part of your celebrations and helping to create one-of-a-kind festive party bites, impressive charcuterie boards and unique appetisers to savour and share with family and friends.”
Boxes of Original Gluten Free Crisps are available with a suggested retail price of $5.49.
Other flavours in 34 Degrees’ portfolio include cracked pepper, rosemary, toasted onion, sesame, sweet lemon, and vanilla.
