ADM has formed a long-term partnership with Thai tapioca starch producer General Starch Limited (GSL), granting ADM the exclusive distribution rights to GSL’s range of tapioca starches in the majority of European countries as well as in the Middle East and Africa.
GSL’s range of speciality tapioca starches and modified tapioca starches are suitable for a range food and applications, including bakery products, sauces, soups and more.
The agreement covers GSL’s full range of modified tapioca starches for the food industry, and the speciality starches covered by the agreement will be sold under the ADM brand.
GSL’s non-GMO speciality tapioca starches provide excellent viscosity with a clean neutral flavour profile, and can be used as an effective alternative to the modified waxy corn and potato starches used in a wide range of food applications.
Johan Schrijver, sales director starches EMEA, said: “We are very excited to expand our European portfolio with another raw material, which will generate great opportunities and new developments supported by our Starch Lab in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
“This partnership puts ADM in a position to develop innovative customer solutions through a broad range of starches, each with unique properties and showcases our commitment to become one of the leading starch suppliers in EMEA.”
Last year, ADM bolstered its tapioca starch portfolio by partnering with Vedan to create a new line of speciality tapioca starches and tapioca maltodextrin ingredients for manufacturers.
