Global spirits company Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has acquired a majority stake in Austrian distribution and wholesaler company Mountain Spirits, with the aim of expanding its position in the Alps.
Established in 2004, Mountain Spirits has expanded its product range with well-known brands such as Tia Maria, San Miguel and Disaronno, and imports these products for its customers in the catering trade, as well as trading companies to Austria.
Located in Tyrol, the centre of the Alps, Mountain Spirits’ branded beverages will join ABG’s portfolio of over 200 brands, that includes Riga Black Balsam, Rooster Rojo Tequila and Cross Keys Gin.
“Mountain Spirits, a boutique and highly respected Austrian distribution company and wholesaler, will provide us with a powerful footprint in central Europe and with the ability to reach into the strategically important Alps,” said Seymour Ferreira, CEO of Amber Beverage Group.
Under the agreements of the deal, founder Markus Panzl will remain in his role as managing director of Mountain Spirits.
Panzl said: “Joining ABG represents a very promising venture which will strengthen our portfolio and footprint in Austria and Europe overall. The value of ABG rests with its dynamic team, their extraordinary expertise and their strong network across the world. We are happy to take now a part and participate in this extraordinary journey.”
ABG is a producer, distributor, logistic provider and retailer of beverages, and operates from its head office in Luxembourg and through its production and distribution companies in Russia, Mexico, the UK, Australia and the Baltics.
Earlier this year, ABG purchased 100% of UK-based drinks distributor Cellar Trends, an increase from its 70% ownership.
