Global spirits company Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has acquired Walsh Whiskey, as it looks to expand into the Irish whiskey sector.
The acquisition brings together Walsh Whiskey’s expertise in crafting Irish whiskey, combined with its strong distribution partners, and ABG’s global marketing and distribution strength. Existing management and staff will remain in place.
The investment marks ABG’s entry into the Irish whiskey sector.
Bernard Walsh, co-founder of Walsh Whiskey, said: “We are delighted to embark on a new phase of growth as part of Amber Beverage Group. Given the underlying strengths of our brands and of the long-term trajectory of Irish whiskey, this is a logical next step for us and will provide a means of scaling up the business so that a greater number of consumers have the opportunity to participate in the search for the perfect drop or ‘taoscán’ of whiskey.”
This announcement comes after ABG announced an investment of €15.5 million in equipment to build a new €33 million automated warehouse.
