Ardent Mills has agreed to acquire substantially all the assets of Firebird Artisan Mills from operating holding company Agspring, as it looks to strengthen its position in the gluten-free milled grains market.
Firebird manufactures a wide range of non-GMO, organic and gluten-free offerings in its gluten-free facility in Harvey, North Dakota.
The acquisition will expand Ardent Mills’ offerings of speciality ingredient solutions, provide its customers with access to the latest products, services and innovations in gluten-free milling and blending, reinforce its supply chain and bolster its research and development, technical, food safety and quality assurance teams.
Firebird Artisan Mills portfolio includes gluten-free flours, mixes, blends and speciality grain products.

Agspring’s CEO, Mark Beemer, added: “Ardent Mills has the right expertise in bringing together strong network supply chains and operating as a nimble and flexible company”.
The deal is expected to close by the end of this year. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
