Sports nutrition company Ascent has launched an organic plant-based protein powder range created to help with muscle health and athletic performance.
Ascent’s Plant Protein is available in two flavours, Chocolate and Vanilla Bean. The protein powders, which will be available for purchase at Whole Foods Market nationwide, is made from a combination of three plant protein sources – pea, sunflower and pumpkin.
The new line provides 4g of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), including 2g of leucine – an essential amino acid able to trigger muscle protein synthesis. Ascent’s Plant Protein is soy- and dairy-free, contains no added sugars and no artificial ingredients.
“We are excited to partner with Ascent on this new line and offer our consumers a plant-based protein that is formulated for athletes who want efficacious, clean ingredients – that also tastes amazing,” said Whole Foods Market’s senior category merchant, Casey Gaston.
Ascent’s director of sales, Josh Haskins, added: “We believe that this new plant protein will change the conversation for athletes looking for plant-based options. With Ascent, consumers no longer need to compromise on taste or performance.”
