Blue Bell Creameries has launched a Mardi Gras King Cake ice cream in a half gallon size, available in the US where Blue Bell products are sold.
The dessert is made with a cinnamon cake-flavoured ice cream, pastry pieces and a cream cheese swirl with candy sprinkles.
Mardi Gras King Cake is a combination of two previous Blue Bell ice cream flavours: Mardi Gras, introduced in 2004, and King Cake, first produced in 2006.
Blue Bell corporate sales manager Carl Breed said: “We have been making Mardi Gras King Cake since 2012, but the flavour has mostly been sold in areas known for the celebration such as Louisiana and Alabama.
“Last year, a grocery store in Louisiana posted about the flavour’s arrival on its Facebook page and we started receiving requests from all over the country. After that, we decided to share this festive flavour with everyone in our distribution area.”
He added: “We still receive requests for Mardi Gras and King Cake because our fans never forget a flavour. But, you have the best of both worlds with our Mardi Gras King Cake ice cream.”
Mardi Gras King Cake is available for a limited time and joins other Blue Bell ice cream flavours such as banana pudding, strawberries and homemade vanilla, and butter crunch.
