British snack brand Brave has expanded its roasted pea portfolio with a new chocolate and salted caramel variant.
The new flavour, which is said to provide a moreish combination of sweet, salty and crunchy, aims to hit on several key consumer trends: it contains less sugar than sweet popcorn flavours and chocolate-coated nuts, it also has 5g of protein per pack, 5g of fibre and is vegan.
Brave works with farmers in East Anglia and Lincolnshire to keep its production local and reduce the impact on the environment. All peas in the range are harvested, roasted and packed within three hours of the brand’s London office.
The launch sees Brave aim to secure a bigger share of the UK snacking market and tap into consumer demands for healthier products on the go.
Amber and Seb Fraser-Sokol, co-founders of Brave, said: “We’ve been making chocolate-coated peas as a healthy treat for ourselves since before we started Brave. It’s a delightful combination that delivers our favourite sensation of sweet, savoury and crunchy, and packs great nutritionals.
“We tested an early version of the flavour at Lunch! in September and buyer feedback was so positive that we knew we were onto something. We’ve been hard at work bringing this product to market ever since.”
Five flavours are available in the Brave range: sea salt, paprika and chilli, sour cream and chive, salt and vinegar, and chocolate and salted caramel. Sold in 30g and 35g packs, the products retail for £1.19.
