Brothers Drinks Co has acquired sparkling perry brand Babycham, following an agreement with the company’s current owner, Accolade Wines.
Babycham is a light, sparkling perry made from pear and soda water and has an ABV of 6%. It was a popular alcoholic beverage during the 60s and 70s.
The acquisition is part of Brothers Drinks Co’s growth strategy and future expansion plans. In addition to producing its own-brand beverages, Brothers also produces cider, beer, spirits and soft drinks for third party customers.
Matthew Showering, a member of the Showering family, which founded Brothers Drinks Co, said: “We are proud to welcome the Babycham brand back into our drinks portfolio and are already receiving extremely positive feedback on the decision by many who consider it a ‘sleeping giant’ within the drinks industry”.
He continued: “It’s a sentimental brand, not only for our family, but for families across the nation who associate Babycham with fond memories and celebratory milestones. We want to share the brands fun, sparkly and aspirational persona with new and familiar customers.”
The company plans to rejuvenate the Babycham brand with an impending relaunch in 2022.
