Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses is introducing Blacksticks Blue Mega Burger Slices in the UK next month, ahead of “the much-awaited, post-lockdown BBQ season”.
The slices offer the smooth and creamy texture of Blacksticks Blue, complete with edible rind. Sold in packs of four, the thick-cut rounds can be used to top meat and vegetarian burgers, or as a filling for grilled or picnic sandwiches.
The Lancashire-based cheesemaker says that its first-ever Blacksticks toppers are cut from a whole cheese and offer an “antidote to ‘plastic’ burger cheese”.
“As we come out of lockdown and socialise with friends and family again, dining in the fresh air has a whole new level of relevance and appeal,” said Matthew Hall, fourth generation owner of Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses.
“There’s a new wave of shoppers looking for something more than processed cheese – they want gourmet burgers that deliver those Instagram pictures while adding a quality cheese hit at home. So for us it was simple – combine our love of handmade, farmhouse cheese with our appetite for innovation to create something special with Blacksticks Blue.”
With an RRP of £3, Blacksticks Blue Mega Burger Slices will launch in Waitrose and Spar stores nationally in April.
