Members of both the British Water Cooler Association (BWCA) and the European Drinking Water Cooler Association (EDWCA) will vote on plans to create a new, combined trade association later this year.
On 10 October 2019, members of both associations will be invited to vote for their respective associations to be amalgamated, creating a new, combined association to replace the two separate existing trade bodies.
According to a joint statement issued on behalf of both associations, talks began between members of the two executive councils in 2018. The discussions were successful and an outline proposal was put to the combined membership, and this proposal was successfully mandated by both associations in the autumn of 2018.
According to the associations, a considerable amount of work has been undertaken, with representatives from both association executive councils collaborating closely together.
Both existing associations will now hold their respective AGMs on Thursday 10 October 2019 at the same venue in Sketchley Grange, UK, where a final decision to proceed will be voted on by members.
If the majority of members in each organisation vote in favour of an amalgamation, then the first meeting of the new association will be held on the same day and a new association will be formally created, with an anticipated launch date of January 2020.
