Canopy Growth Corporation has unveiled a raft of new cannabis-infused products, including sparkling waters, mixers and chocolate.
The Canadian company has developed a proprietary process called Distilled Cannabis that distils whole flower cannabis into a clear liquid, which is used as an active ingredient in a variety of its THC- and CBD-infused beverages.
Produced in its newly licensed beverage facility in Ontario, Canopy’s drinks will be offered in a range of brands, flavours and sizes. They have been developed to provide the serving sizes and onset times that consumers experience with other drink formats.
“With the coming of Cannabis 2.0, our goal is to provide customers with the best quality products, and I truly believe through the hard work and dedication of our team, we have delivered just that,” said Mark Zekulin, CEO, Canopy Growth.
“Since our first medical sale in 2014, we’ve been focused on innovation and quality, and now we’re expanding that with the launch of our game-changing recreational beverages, chocolates and vapes.”
Tweed RTD beverages are pre-mixed with Distilled Cannabis and offered in 355ml cans.
Canopy Growth will release a range of premixed beverages under the Tweed brand. The ready-to-drink beverages are flavoured to represent three core cannabis strains featured: Penelope & Tonic, which has 2mg of THC and 1.5mg of CBD, while Bakerstreet & Ginger Ale and Houndstooth & Soda both contain 2mg of THC per can.
Through its partnership with Houseplant founders Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Canopy Growth has developed Houseplant Grapefruit and Houseplant Lemon sparkling waters, both containing 2.5mg of THC per 355ml can.
The company has also created a range of seltzer-like sparkling water beverages under the Quatreau brand that are targeted at wellness-focused consumers. The cucumber & mint and passion fruit & guava flavours feature 20mg of CBD, while ginger & lime and blueberry acai both contain 2mg of CBD and 2mg of THC.
For consumers interested in a more potent option, Deep Space is a smaller ready-to-drink carbonated beverage containing 10mg of THC per serving – the maximum level permitted by Health Canada.
Tokyo Smoke THC-infused dark chocolate features minimal CBD content.
Canopy has also established a new brand of beverage mixers, Tweed Distilled Cannabis. Packaged in 150ml bottles, the products can be mixed with any non-alcoholic beverage or enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
Aside from beverages, Canopy has partnered with Hummingbird Chocolate to produce a range of chocolate products infused with cannabis.
Three chocolate brands will be available: Bean & Bud 70% dark chocolate, Tweed milk chocolate and Tokyo Smoke THC-infused dark chocolate.
Canopy said it will begin shipping the chocolates from its Ontario distribution centre across Canada in the coming weeks.
Regulations concerning the production and sale of derivative cannabis products – such as edibles and infused beverages – came into effect in Canada on 17 October, exactly a year after recreational cannabis became legal in the country.
