Chobani is moving away from plastic by launching new paper cups for its single-serve Oat Blend yogurts, as part of its sustainable efforts.
According to the company, the new paper-based packaging took two years in the making and is made of 80% paperboard composed of “responsibly sourced and renewable material”. The sustainable cup, which will be available from the end of this year, features a thin plastic lining to maintain product quality.
“We all have a role to play in protecting our planet,” said Chobani’s founder and CEO, Hamdi Ulukaya. “People have been asking for a paper cup, and we welcome this challenge to start reducing our plastic use, and to spark a conversation about how we can drive change together.”
Several other Chobani products are already offering paper-based packagings, such as its oat milk, cold brew coffee and coffee creamers.
