Coca-Cola to divest bottling operations in north India

Coca-Cola has announced plans to re-align its bottling operations in north India, in an effort to deliver sustainable growth in the area.

The global beverage company’s bottler for India, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), will transfer its business operations in north India to existing bottlers.

The change will involve four non-contiguous territories in which HCCB currently operates and according to Coca-Cola is designed to build regional scale, stimulate investments and growth in the northern part of the country.

As a result of the move, a shared value will be created for bottlers, customers, consumers and communities.

With the realignment, existing capacities and supply chain will be optimised, resulting in further investments and improved distribution routes through contiguous territories.

Coca-Cola says it is on track to build a stronger and more sustainable local business in India.

Following the deal, HCCB will continue to operate in east, west and south of India.

Coca-Cola’s bottling network in India is currently comprised of 14 bottlers including HCCB. No further immediate realignment is envisaged currently.
