Copalis develops ‘inner beauty’ marine ingredient

The ingredient, Collactive, is composed of marine collagen and elastin peptides in the same ratio as in the dermis.

Being the most abundant protein of the human body, collagen peptide supplementation has been widely studied, but mostly for joint application. It has also been shown that collagen peptide supplementation is effective in a collagen-specific manner.

In the dermis, which is the lower layer of the two main layers that make up the skin, collagen fibres give tensile strength that completes elastin fibre suppleness. By combining these two main constituents, Copalis claims to have proven that Collactive has an anti-wrinkle and protective action when orally administered.

The recently completed clinical study involving 43 women measured the depth and number of wrinkles after the oral administration of Collactive. Measurements gave outstanding results against placebo with an average deep wrinkles reduction of 19% after 28 days. The protective effect of Collactive appeared after 84 days when the skin was exposed to winter conditions.

Having a low molecular weight, Collactive peptides have a high bioavailability and are soluble in aqueous phase, making Collactive ideal for beauty drinks and nutricosmetics.
