US metal can producer Crown Holdings is expanding its North American footprint with a new aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Mesquite, Nevada.
The 355,000-square-foot plant will be located in the Mesquite Technology and Commerce Centre and is expected to create 126 jobs.
The two-line plant will produce both standard and speciality beverage cans for customers across a wide variety of categories, including carbonated soft drinks, sparkling water, energy drinks, hard seltzers, beer and ready-to-drink cocktails.
The new facility will not only improve Crown Holdings’ ability to serve its existing customers in the western US, but also its ability to support growth of new beverage introductions in aluminium cans.
“This investment, underpinned by long-term customer contracts, continues to demonstrate Crown’s commitment to meet the increased demand for aluminium beverage cans,” said Timothy Donahue, Crown Holdings’ president and CEO. “Consumers continue to seek beverage options predominantly in cans and are increasingly aware of the sustainability benefits of the aluminium can.”
The new facility is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2023.
