The company’s founders Liz and Roger Sutton bought their first three goats in Delamere Forest, Cheshire late in 1985, and now the company has cows’ and goats’ milks, cheeses, butter and yogurts stocked by retailers across the UK and beyond.
Delamere Dairy is well known for its award winning goats’ products, but also supplies Channel Island milk and a range of sterilised cows’ milks which have recently been brought under the Delamere Dairy brand umbrella.\
Liz Sutton commented: “There were numerous challenges in the early days, from producing the finished products to finding retailers to stock them, and building a market for goats’ milk – as it wasn’t commercially available in the UK at the time.”
Delamere Dairy currently turns over £15m. Asked about the secret behind the success Liz concluded: ‘Delamere’s culture has always been defined by traditional values mixed with an entrepreneurial spirit. We believe in two principles above all else, producing high quality products and generating strong relationships with all the people who help us get those products to the consumer.
