E & J Gallo Winery is planning to build a new $423 million production facility and distribution centre in Chester County, South Carolina.
Construction work is set to begin almost immediately, and the investment is expected to create 496 new jobs over the next eight years.
The new location will provide bottling and canning capacity, as well as warehousing and distribution, for E & J Gallo’s portfolio of wine and spirit brands.
With the planned facility, the company aims to support future business growth and innovation.
Located near the Port of Charleston, the new site will serve as a hub for E & J Gallo’s import and export business, while also enabling the company to better serve customers on the east coast of the US.
“Gallo’s investment will transform Chester County and contribute greatly to South Carolina’s economic prosperity,” said South Carolina Governor, Henry McMaster.
“Creating a business environment in which world-class brands can grow and thrive is critical to South Carolina’s long-term economic success, especially in our rural communities. We are glad for their partnership and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”
South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
Earlier this year, E & J Gallo Winery announced that it had completed the acquisition of more than 30 wine brands from Constellation Brands, nearly two years after the deal was first announced.
