The Old Curiosity Distillery has expanded its Secret Garden Gin collection with the launch of a wild herb-infused gin in the UK.
Based in Edinburgh, the alcohol manufacturer claims that its new product is the UK’s first true wild gin and creates a twist on the classic London dry gin.
With a 40% ABV, Wild Gin has been distilled with nine wild botanicals and herbs including juniper, sweet cicely, angelica root, yarrow and nettle that are grown in its Secret Herb Garden.
According to The Old Curiosity Distiller, “the drink allows the flavours of the indigenous wild herbs to come through in the taste and aroma, encapsulating the Flow Country and resulting in a beautifully complex and balanced gin”.
The bottle comes in a wooden box which can be re-used as a bird box, while the label is reportedly made from 30% grass.
The Old Curiosity Distiller grows over 600 different kinds of herbs and flowers which are used to create experimental gins.
Wild Gin is available in 50cl bottles from department stores across the UK for an RRP of £42, with 20% of proceeds going towards RSPB Scotland’s work in preserving the Flow Country’s peatland.
