Elmhurst 1925 has added to its range of nut milks with the launch of unsweetened milked walnuts and unsweetened milked cashews.
Made with only two ingredients – water with walnuts or cashews – the drinks join Elmhurst’s portfolio which also consists of milked almonds and milked hazelnuts.
The beverages aim to offer consumers classic nut milk flavours but without sugar. They are said to be suitable for drinking by the glass, stirring into coffee, adding to hot and cold cereals, blending into smoothies and cooking into sauces.
Elmhurst vice president of marketing Peter Truby said: “With the popularity of unsweetened plant milks growing, we knew it was the perfect time to extend our popular unsweetened line and offer two new additions, unsweetened milked walnuts and unsweetened milked cashews.
“Already part of our regular line-up of plant milks, we’re excited to introduce these new varieties with only two simple ingredients to consumers who love traditional walnut and cashew milks, but don’t want the added sugar.”
Like all Elmhurst products, the new drinks are crafted through HydroRelease method, which separates the components of a nut, grain or seed, before reassembling them as a creamy, beverage-ready emulsion.
Elmhurst said the technique means the means no added gums or emulsifiers are needed to hold the product together and the original ingredient’s nutrition is maintained.
Both variants will be available in the US this autumn in 32oz cartons, retailing for $5.99.
