Denmark-based packaging group Faerch has launched a product range for protein applications made from 100% recycled content to offer customers a new packaging solution.
The new range features Mapet II Evolve, designed for packing in industrialised settings and Apet Evolve, developed for in-store packaging. Both are suitable for packaging fresh meat, poultry, fish and plant-based alternatives.
According to Faerch, the trays represent an ‘ultimate level of circularity’: they are made from 100% recycled content and can be fully recycled into new food grade trays without compromising on food safety or any other key measures.
The duo range has been developed as the next generation of Faerch’s Mapet II and Apet products, possessing the same attributes but made exclusively from recycled content. Faerch’s latest release has also expanded the Evolve by Faerch portfolio.
Evolve by Faerch trays are made from collected and recycled bottles and trays. During recycling and production no extra colour is added, therefore preserving its natural make-up.
As the products are created from a natural blend of recycled content, the colour of each tray will vary. The different palettes of colour enable consumers to recognise that they are have a sustainable choice, when selecting food packaged in Evolve by Faerch trays. It also guarantees that the trays are reliably detectable by today’s existing sorting systems.
Lars Gade Hansen, CEO of Faerch Group, said: “We offer packaging solutions made from 100% recycled content, with no compromises on quality, which we recycle back into new food trays.
“On the journey towards circularity in food packaging, material choice is key. The right material is an important enabler to ensure circularity.
“Evolve by Faerch trays provide consumers with the long-awaited guidance to easily choose food packaging that is made from recycled content. The unique look also reminds us that we should treat the tray as a valuable resource that we collect after use for recycling – again and again.”
