The workforce is being let go after the company went into administration last week. The factory had been hit by a major fire the week before, and the company suffered a financial blow during the collapse of Iceland’s second-largest bank, Landsbanki, to which it was heavily indebted.
The company is a producer of branded frozen food in the Nordic markets and France, and has a growing presence in central and eastern Europe.
With a 100-year old heritage, Findus produces a range of frozen food products that includes vegetables, vegetable mixes, prepared meals, recipe dishes, fish and seafood.
