Fresh meals provider, FreshRealm, has announced it will expand its operational facilities in the US, with the aim of producing more than 100 million meals annually.
The expansion will support FreshRealm’s strategy to optimise its position in the fresh meals category, enabling the company to meet growing demand from consumers and the retail sector.
The company hopes its facilities will be fully operational from autumn 2021 through to mid-2022, allowing the production of more than 100 million meals each year across its ready-to-cook, ready-to-heat and meal kit ranges. The expansion will enable the company to reach 20 metropolitan cities in the US, and 85% of the US population in 10 hours.
“Our new state-of-the-art facilities will provide FreshRealm with increased agility, better quality control and rapid line expansion to ensure we can produce superior short shelf life meals at a scale that’s relevant to the retail industry,” said Michael Lippold, founder and CEO.
“Through extensive research and development, we’ve been able to optimise our production runs and capacity to create fresh meals for today’s most innovative and forward-thinking retailers, while keeping our costs extremely competitive,” he added.
Four facilities in California, Georgia, Indiana and New Jersey will be fully operational in autumn 2021, with plans for a fifth facility in Texas to be online in the first half of 2022.
