FrieslandCampina Kievit, the ingredients arm of FrieslandCampina, has opened a new Innovation Kitchen in Manila, Philippines, enhancing the company’s ability to assist beverage manufacturers in the region.
The new Kievit Innovation Kitchen is located at the company’s beverage creamer production facility in Manila, which is home to the company’s sensory lab and other research and development facilities.
The inauguration of the site follows a comprehensive Philippines consumer study published by the company, which found that the popularity of coffee, tea and hot chocolate is rising in the country and thus offers new opportunities to beverage manufacturers.
This report found that 80% of coffee drinkers in the Philippines consume 3-in-1 coffee on a daily basis, cold drinks like iced coffee and milk tea scored “all-time highs” in tasting panels, and instant beverages that contain dairy were also popular with consumers in the country.
FrieslandCampina Kievit claims that the team at the new Innovation Kitchen can help manufacturers build on these insights and develop new products, innovations and marketing strategies.
Luc Steenwelle, product group manager of Beverages Asia at FrieslandCampina Kievit said: “We’re very excited to have opened the Kievit Innovation Kitchen in Manila.
“Now, we can work side-by-side with our customers in the Asia Pacific region, exploring new possibilities, innovating together, sharing thoughts, and strengthening our relationships.
“Coupled with the findings from our market study, we are sure that we will help create successful, tailored concepts that meet market needs and can bring them to the market fast.”
