Froneri, the UK-headquartered ice cream joint venture owned by Nestlé and R&R, has launched a new indulgent plant-based ice cream brand.
Called Roar, the ice cream brand aims to save endangered wild cats and encourages its consumers to ‘find their wild’.
The new brand has formed a long-term partnership with Panthera as a financial sponsor supporting the Tigers Forever fund, to increase the number of tigers by at least 50% over a ten-year period.
With its launch, Roar has combined plant-based ingredients with the flavours of hazelnut, coconut and chocolate to unveil three varieties.
The range does not contain palm oil and all cocoa used is UTZ Certified.
Hazelnut Chocolate Cookie is made with hazelnut paste combined with raw salted hazelnuts and chocolate cookie pieces.
With a coconut-based ice cream, the ‘creamy and tropical’ Coconut Mango Passionfruit Oat Cookie features a mango and passionfruit swirl with a hint of lemon combined with crunchy oat cookies.
Meanwhile, Hemp Seed Chocolate Brownie consists of a chocolate ice cream packed with chunks of brownie and hemp seeds to create a rich and chewy ice cream.
According to Froneri, “The most important thing for us was the taste. It had to taste incredible and be indulgent without compromise. People deserve a super-premium, plant-based ice cream experience that delivers. It’s extremely complex to achieve and not many can get it right.”
Roar ice cream is now available from Ocado, with a Tesco release to follow on 16th March, for an RRP of £5 per 500ml tub.
In December last year, Froneri acquired Nestlé’s US ice cream business for $4bn. Froneri was created in 2016 as an ice cream-focused joint venture between Nestlé and PAI Partners-owned R&R.
