Nestlé-owned Gerber has entered the frozen aisle with the launch of a new line featuring organic bowls and bites made with vegetables and whole grains.
According to Gerber, products in the Freshful Start range can be prepared in minutes and are free from preservatives, artificial flavours and colours.
Designed for toddlers aged 12 months and up, Freshful Start Organic Veggie & Grain Bowls come in three varieties.
Tomato basil features whole grain pasta, tomatoes, yellow bell peppers, zucchini and kale, and is a source of iron. Mac & cheese is a source of calcium and contains cheddar cheese and broccoli, as well as carrot and sweet potato purees. Meanwhile, southwest style is made with vegetables, black beans and brown rice, and is a source of iron.
Freshful Start Organic Veggie Bites are available in two variants: yellow carrot, kale, lentil & quinoa, a source of iron, protein, fibre and whole grains; and broccoli, lentils & cheddar, made with natural ingredients and providing a source of iron, whole grains and fibre.
“Families with busy schedules are looking for quick meal options for toddlers that provide the nutrition their growing bodies need. Parents can take comfort knowing Gerber Organic Freshful Start bowls and bites are nutritious mealtime options for toddlers,” said Dr. Erin Quann, head of medical affairs at Gerber/Nestlé Nutrition.
“Developed by Gerber’s experts with toddlers’ nutrition needs in mind, Freshful Start continues Gerber’s mission to provide key foods and nutrients that many young children fall short on, like calcium and iron.
“Nutritious mealtime options like these new bowls introduce young children to a variety of nutritious foods and beverages, helping establish healthy eating habits from the start.”
Gerber’s new frozen Freshful Start organic bowls and bites are available in select Target stores.
Last year, Nestlé inaugurated a new factory in China, marking the first official production of Gerber Nutripuff – a cereal snack for babies – in the country.
