Meal kit company Gousto has partnered with plant-based food producer The Meatless Farm Co to deliver consumers more meat-free meals in the UK.
As part of the partnership, Meatless Farm’s plant-based mince and sausages will be introduced to the Gousto menu in dishes such as 10 Minute Meatless Bulgogi Bowl, 10 Minute Meatless Mince Thai Larb, and Meatless Sausage and Sweet Potato Mash.
These new plant-based options will add to Gousto’s portfolio of over 40 recipes each week and marks the first time that Meatless Farm products will be available through a recipe box service.
Established in 2016, Meatless Farm’s products are made with a mix of pea, rice and soya protein. Both its plant-based sausages and mince are high in protein, a source of fibre and gluten free.
With the partnership, Gousto aims to offer greater choice and flexibility for consumers looking to expand their meal repertoire, get more creative and adopt a more flexible approach to eating this year.
Rhys Desborough, category buyer at Gousto, said: “With the customer at the heart of everything we do, we’re excited to be joining forces with Meatless Farm, to give even more cooking inspiration to kitchens across the UK.
“Many of our customers are looking to adopt a flexible approach to eating this year, so they’ll be pleased to see our expanded variety of plant-based and vegetarian recipes featuring the best quality plant-based products.”
Meatless Farm’s account controller, Sarah-Jane Virr, said: “Swapping to plant-based food should be both easy and delicious. We want the recipe range with Gousto to encourage more plant-based eating, whether this once or twice a week. It’s important we’re answering the demand from the UK’s rising population of meat reducers, vegans and veggies.”
Since its launch, Gousto has benefited from two rounds of funding from private investors, including BGF Ventures, Unilever Ventures and Angel CoFund. Last year, Gousto received £18m in a new funding round, with further investment from existing shareholders and new investment from health influencer Joe Wicks.
Gousto’s meals start from £2.98 per meal, per person.
