UK pastry brand Higgidy is expanding its portfolio with the introduction of its new ‘veg-packed’ quiche range.
The new quiches feature pastry that contains more than 30% vegetables, and come in Mediterranean Pepper & Feta and Garden Greens & Ricotta variants.
According to Higgidy, the ‘veg-packed’ pastry recipe is made using mashed sweet potato and carrot with a butternut squash puree.
The brand says that the launch – which follows the introduction of Higgidy’s first vegan quiches – aims to liven up consumers’ midweek meals.
“Although traditional savoury pastry options such as quiche Lorraine are still extremely popular, we are seeing an increasing demand for more exciting flavour combinations, which includes consumers looking for innovative ways to incorporate more veg into their meals,” said Higgidy co-founder, Camilla Stephens.
“That’s why we’ve created these veg-packed quiches – crafting a unique and delicious vegetable-based pastry that will not only inspire existing savoury pastry consumers looking to try something new, but also new, younger customers who might have traditionally shied away from pastry-based products, too.”
With an RRP of £4.25, both quiches will be available at Sainsbury’s from 7 July.
