Russia’s Council of Dietary Supplement, Nutrient and Healthy Food Producers, and the Brazilian Association of Foods for Special Dietary Uses Industry, both joined IADSA in December 2008.
Founded in March 2008, the CDSP brings together seven member companies engaged in the manufacture or marketing of food supplements. ABIAD is made up of 31 member companies, 40% of which are directly engaged in the food supplement business.
“We’re delighted to welcome CDSP and ABIAD into our global network,” said Byron Johnson, IADSA chairman. “One of the priorities of IADSA is to support existing associations and help create new associations across the globe. Together, we’ll continue to work towards building an international platform for debate, and a sound legislative and political environment for the development of dietary supplement markets worldwide.”
The IADSA is the leading international expert association regarding the globalisation of dietary supplement markets and increasing regulatory challenges. It brings together dietary supplement associations from six continents and represents more than 20,000 companies.
The IADSA has focused significantly on work in Latin America and Russia over the past two years. In 2007, it held a workshop to help companies understand the process for entering Russia’s substantial dietary supplement market. In 2008, the IADSA also held two expert workshops in the Latin American region with industry and regulators from Argentina, Chile and Brazil and Mexico.
