Jimmy’s Iced Coffee has launched a new Flat White Extra Shot iced coffee, responding to the increasing popularity of flat white coffees in the UK.
According to a September 2018 report from Kantar Worldpanel, flat white is the fastest growing over-the-counter coffee order in the UK, with sales increasing by 11% last year alone.
Jimmy’s surveyed 250 coffee drinkers in October 2018, and 60% of respondents claimed that they wanted to see an iced version of the drink introduced.
In turn, Jimmy’s opted to develop the new product to respond to this demand, and the new drink contains a blend of five ingredients, including ethically-sourced Arabica beans, semi-skimmed milk and unrefined demerara sugar.
Packaged in a black and gold can, the new drink also marks a departure from the brand’s traditional cardboard packages, and is the first in the range to be infinitely recyclable.
Jimmy’s co-founder, Suzie Cregan said: “We knew we wanted to launch a stronger Iced Coffee – with so many people still wanting a daily energy boost but increasingly moving away from sugar-filled energy drinks – this was a prime time for us to create an Extra Shot.
“Combine this with traceable ingredients and recyclable packaging, we’re excited to launch the Flat White with all the credentials our drinkers care about. We don’t compromise and we’re proud to stand out in the chiller across branding, packaging and ingredients.”
Jimmy’s co-founder Jim Cregan added: “Our tasting development started with us adding an espresso to our current Original. It was epic.
“So, to now have the recipe refined into a super smooth Iced Flat White, with an extra kick, in infinitely recyclable packaging, is really exciting.”
The Flat White Extra Shot from Whole Foods stores in the UK from 1 July, with a suggested retail price of £1.79.
