British start-up Jubel has expanded its range of fruit-infused lagers with a new grapefruit variant.
Called Coast, the 4% ABV brew is described as a “crisp lager blended with the zing of juicy grapefruit”.
The beer joins Alpine, which is cut with peach, and Urban, cut with elderflower, to form Jubel’s trio of gluten-free, vegan and sessionable craft lagers.
With the increasing popularity of fruit ciders and infused gins, Jubel founder Jesse Wilson thought it was time the craft beer market had a similarly fresh and more drinkable option.
The Jubel range is said to “deliver the refreshment of a fruit cider with the sessionability of a crisp lager”.
Wilson comments on the inspiration behind Jubel: “I discovered a dangerously refreshing and sessionable beer tradition in the Alps that didn’t exist back home.
“When you want something refreshing, hop-forward beers can be too bitter and fruit ciders too sweet, so we set out on a mission to pioneer a new style of craft beer that is a more inclusive alternative to make craft beer accessible to more people.”
Coast is now available in the UK with a recommended retail price of £1.80 per 330ml bottle.
Last year, Jubel was a finalist in the best alcohol drink category at the World Beverage Innovation Awards 2018 for Alpine lager.
